OSTOJIC, PAOK AND HELENIC BASKETBALL FEDERATION IN THE FOCUS OF THE SCANDAL

Most likely the big scandal is going to happen in Greek basketball. In the first case ever in front of FAT (Fiba arbitration tribunal), DJURO OSTOJIC (former player of PAOK), got the award, that his former club is obliged to pay salaries from the contract. Greek team failure to honour award and player requested FIBA for execution of the award. After couple of requests sent to PAOK and Greek Federation, on the 29th of November, FIBA fined PAOK as follows: 1. PAOK is monetary fined by 15.000 Euro 2. PAOK is banned from registering new players after the 29th of November 2007 But, PAOK continued to ignore FIBA decisions and last night anounced signing of two new players - Jason Rowe and Martin Ringstrom. It looks like that Greek basketball federation issued licences for the players, who will despite the FIBA bann be eligible to play tomorrow s cup game against Panathinaikos. If the newcomers play for PAOK in tomorrow s or any other game, it would be considered as the serious violation by FIBA Regulations, done by BC Paok and Greek basketball federation and very serious fines and consequences are expected to appear.
