VASILIS SPANOULIS SIGNED HISTORICAL CONTRACT WITH ROCKETS

After couple of very dramatic days, it s definitely over and VASILIS SPANOULIS, PG of Panathinaikos and Greek national team is new player of NBA team, HOUSTON ROCKETS. Spanoulis used the escape clause in his contract, which allows him to leave Panathinaikos with buy out fee payment of 350.000 USD, valid till the 20th of July 2006. Spanoulis signed 2 plus 1 year deal for total amount of 5.832.000 USD. This is the biggest contract for non American 2nd round pick in the history of NBA. All other Europeans, who are not drafted as the first round pick got less money. Marko Jaric s contract with LA Clipers was the biggest one till now (getting in the first season 1,75 milion USD), but now is past, because Spanoulis will get in the first season 1,8 milion USD. According to NBA rules, the player must pass medical exam within 72 hours of signing contract, what most likely will be done in Bormio, where he is flying today with the national team. After passing medical exam, what s formality Vasilis Spanoulis will officialy become team mate with Jao Ming and T Mac.
